George was not just a man’s man but also a devoted husband to Jennifer and dedicated Dad to David,Lisa and Wayne. He was a fantastic grandad to Michael,Lindsay,Joe,Sam,Harry,Connor and Molly and they in turn loved him dearly He grew up in Durham with his brother Alan and sisters Renee,Doreen, Dorothy,Hazel and Pauline. As was typical of the times, he had a tough, but happy childhood. He used to take a horse and cart laden with fruit and vegetable around the village selling the produce. Like so many before him George left the North East to seek work and employment. He moved to Coventry and found not only work, but he also his future wife, Jennifer Blount, They married in March 1976. He always worked hard and played hard enjoying a happy social life with friends and family. He used to frequent The Keresley Colliery where most people knew George and would put the world to rights over a few pints. There was nothing that George couldn't fix and nothing went to waste, that included food at the table, nobody could leave the table until their plate was clean. He was loved and adored by all his grandchildren Michael,Lindsay,Joe,Sam,Harry,Connor and Molly he always had time to play and teach them all valuable lessons in life. George loved to travel and always had a lovely golden tan. His favourite destinations and memories were from South Africa were he went to install his chicken pen design while working at Potters. Oman were he visited Paul and Glen (his daughter-in-laws parents) he travelled with Wayne and Deb but George stayed for a month as he had just retired. In 2003 George went to Australia to watch the Rugby Union World Cup with son's and friends, they all had a fantastic time as England were victorious. George was devastated when, a short time before his 50th birthday , his son David, tragically suffered a fatal heart attack. He never came to terms with losing his son as David was so fit and well. His death left the whole family in total shock. George became unwell the year after this and died peacefully at home with his family at his bedside. His passing has left a hole is everyones hearts, we all loved him so much. We always talk about George and re-tell his story's to the Grandchildren in the hope to keep his spirit alive. We hope this can be read by future family members so his life story will continue to stay alive forever.
